Chat GPT 3.5 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3.5) is a Large Language Model (LLM) neural network that can generate code, answer questions, and summarize text, among other natural language processing tasks. The engine scans millions of web articles and data sources such as books and databases to generate relevant results and provide comprehensive written answers.
Chat GPT 4 is now available and can engage in conversations on various topics, generate creative content, and analyse images.
The big question is, what should we expect from the next version – Chat GPT 5? Some say that it can achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which refers to the ability to understand and perform any task that a human can.
Predictions suggest that GPT 5 can consider around 17.5 trillion parameters, making it one of the largest neural networks ever created. It might be hundreds of times more powerful than GPT 3, and experts believe that GPT-5 can pass the “Turing Test,” which assesses whether a machine can exhibit human-like behaviour in conversation. It is also predicted to have video analytical skills, allowing answers to be derived from various video databases.
That being said, Sam Altman’s (OpenAI CEO) approach of being extremely cautious with the technology, understanding the risks such as security, exploitation, and job market impact and directing it in the right direction which was articulated well in this discussion in front of the US Congress. This act may involve introducing limitations or restrictions on companies that develop or use this technology.
Where does this technology heading? what are the risks that you foresee and would legislation ‘save the day’ ?
